6. Abstract
: Wound field synchronous machines (WFSM) can be operated through a combination of three currents, including stator d-q axis current and field current. In addition, since inductance varies depending on changes in field current and stator d-q axis current, use of look-up tables (LUTs) becomes necessary. This paper proposed a method and sequence for fabricating a single minimum copper-loss LUT which has a current reference that reflects the nonlinear change in inductance of WFSM. The fabrication process of LUT proceeds in a way to find the minimum copper-loss current combination in the entire field current range by using the flux-torque LUT derived from several specific field currents. Therefore, if the LUT proposed in this paper is used, the WFSM can be controlled with the maximum torque with minimum copper-loss not only in the constant torque region but also in the field weakening region. The effectiveness of this method is proved by the experiment results.
