6. Abstract
: This paper designs an SST (Solid-State Transformer) system by comparing the number of power semiconductors, the cost, the efficiency, the reliability, the weight and the volume of SST according to the number of modules. The SST for the railway vehicle regulates the 25 kV AC voltage to 1.5 kV DC voltage; high voltage insulation for the safety of the railway vehicle is required. The SST meeting the mentioned requirements can vary the system configuration depending on the number of modules, and accordingly the characteristics of the SST can be changed. Therefore, this paper presents an SST system according to the number of the modules, and designs the SST system through four characteristic analyses. Finally, the performance of the proposed SST system is proved using the simulation.
